Keawakapu Beach
One of the best beaches in South Maui, Keawakapu Beach stretches for 1/2 a mile from South Kihei to the beginning of the Wailea Resort. It runs along exclusive beachfront estates priced well over $10,000,000. The sand is very soft and the waves are relatively small, great for swimming and snorkeling. During the winter months it is common to see Humpback whales giving birth just offshore. Sunsets can be enjoyed year round from this location, as well as direct views of the islands of Molokini, Kahoolawe and Lanai.
There are three entrances to Keawakapu Beach with park hours from 7:00am to 7:00pm. The first parking area for the beach can be found at the Mana Kai Maui. Once you get back onto South Kihei Road look for the Wailea sign on your left, as well as Kilohana Road which separates Kihei from Wailea. Turn left onto Kilohana and then an immediate right into the second parking lot. Beach access is directly across the street. The third entrance is a little further down South Kihei Road. As you travel south, the road will fork to the left and become Okolani Drive. Just keep going straight which will take you to the last parking area located right next to Wailea Ekahi.
Bordering the north end of the beach is the South Maui condominium project Mana Kai Maui. It is an eight-story complex with 98 units of 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. It has a swimming pool, deli, yoga and the Five Palms Bar & Grill on the first floor. The condos for sale here offer the best south shore views towards Makena. Prices range just below $1,000,000 and go to $1,300,000.
Located only a short walk down Keawakapu Beach is another vacation condo project. Hale Hui Kai is a low-density, four level building shaped like a horse-shoe. It is comprised of 40 condos of 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. Prices float around $1,000,000 for the Hale Hui Kai condos for sale along the sides, but can be much higher for the direct front row condos. These rarely come onto the market for sale though.
On the southern tip of Keawakapu Beach is the Wailea Ekahi Village located within the Wailea Resort on 35 acres. This is an oceanfront townhome community of 296 spacious condominiums of studio, one and two bedroom suites. The Wailea Ekahi condos for sale here are priced between $550,000 and $1,400,000.
